Welcome

My name is Johanna
I am a B.Sc. graduate of Psychology. I am currently doing my M.Sc. in Learning and Development in Organisations at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

I am born in Munich, in 1994 and a so-called 'Münchner Kindl.'

After Highschool, I went on Interrail with three friends and together we explored Europe. That was an amazing experience and I fell in love with the continent.

7 countries later, I arrived back in Munich having just one day left to pack my suitcase and prepare to start my time as AuPair in London. I stayed about half a year. It was the first time that I moved out of home and somewhere outside of Germany without knowing anyone in advance. It was a challenging but great experience. When I look back, I think about the great times with my London friends. But also about the many good and bad experiences I made and how much I learned from them.

After London, I tried to find out what I want for my professional career. 

I am interested in visual design, gamification, technology, health, society, politics, economics, business, people, marketing, communication, cultures, languages, psychology... and many more topics.

To have such a diverse field of interests is very nice but also challenging if you have to decide what you are aiming for in life. 

I decided to do an internship at a marketing/ film-production agency. Besides, I worked at a company that promotes and organises big health congresses. Further, I did a personality and career assessment test at the German job center to find out what I want to do in life. Still, it was a difficult decision to make.

After considering a carreer in economics and informatics for a while, I was convinced that a bachelor in Psychology would be the most suitable choice for me.

Maastricht University was my opportunity to study psychology in English, meet international people and develop myself. UM and its Community offers many extra-curricula activities (sports, social associations, jobs). 

I volunteered in an animal shelter, helped to raise money and awareness for refugees in Calais. I went to the warehouse in Calais to help with distributing donated clothes and chopping vegetables in the community kitchen to provide meals to the refugees. I helped the student association Amnesty international with info-markets and a variety of projects. 

I was an active member of the volleyball association Fyrfad and an enthusiastic supporter of their social gatherings. 

I joined the UM project team to help improve students' life at the University by joining different panel sessions. I participated in a hackathon at the idea competition where we developed a plan to make UM more sustainable. 

Since the beginning of my bachelor, I learned a lot: A lot about Academia, people, businesses, a lot about myself and a lot about life. I made many good and bad experiences. 

I applied some of my knowledge during internships: I did one in the HR department of the NGO smile to the future. One in the usability department of BMW where we did research on automated driving. I did a research project at UM and conducted my own study.

Besides studying, I worked as a sales-women, in service (Residenz Munich, Bayerischer Hof Munich etc.), as promoter ( Rock am Ring, SMS, New Horizons, a congress at the Bayerischer Hof in Munich and other Events), in a gym, in an office, I sitted babys and walked dogs.
